French protests: One of President Macron’s favourite restaurants set on fire and dead rats thrown at city hall

  1. I’m hoping someone can explain what setting fire to a restaurant he likes is supposed to achieve?

Unless the owner is an outspoken advocate of terrible ideas or something? I’m hoping it isn’t just “because he likes it there”

  2. Many of the comments are off the mark. The rich and powerful have been fighting dirty for ages—just not with overt violence. Instead, they cause a huge wealth gap, evade taxes, buy off politicians, pit people against each other,…the list goes on.

And their actions cause people to go hungry, go without sufficient medical care, to lose their sense of self worth, which in turn leads to substance abuse and mental health issues.

People are dying. Losing hope. On a scale far beyond any material damage done by the protesters in France.

  3. This is plain simple destabilisation. Wouldn’t be surprised, given the focus on destroying rather than protesting.

The owner of the restaurant has nothing to do with the protest.
