I plan to resign soon and leave Belgium.
When I check information and I see there’s a notice period calculation after resigning…

Because I’ve worked quite long in current company, my notice period is about 10 weeks..
I just wonder if this notice period is negotiable with my employer that it could be reduced even if there’s regulation saying it’s 10 weeks?
What was your experience?
Thank you in advance!

Your source seems to exclusively talk about the employer dismissing the employee, not the other way around.
Either your employment contract has a clause determining the time between formal notice and effectively leaving, either it follows [common law](https://www.jobat.be/nl/art/hoe-lang-is-de-opzegtermijn-als-ik-ontslag-neem) and is capped at max. 13 weeks, depending on how long you’ve been employed there.
Whatever the case may be, you can shorten your post-notice period if you get to an agreement with your employer, except if your employment agreement says otherwise.
Yes it’s negotiable. Your employer might agree to let you go earlier, but he doesn’t have to.
Everything is negotiable, but they have the right to demand 10 weeks of work from you. Everything less will depend on their goodwill.
When you hand over your resignation letter. Be sure to state that you “wish to” depart early at X date. Not that you “demand to” depart early at X date.
They’ll more likely than not agree on your terms.
Just leave like a gentleman and assure them you’ll hand over the current business to the team so they would be more likely to agree on your early departure and even give you a recommendation on your LinkedIn profile.
