The security queue at ZRH

  1. Global warming, earth is dying (well, not earth, we will die), we need to take a few steps back NOW, glaciers are melting, we can do it…

THIS is why i‘m a pessimist. We will not stop climate change. The next 100 years will be a lot of fun.

  2. Okay, usually ZRH is one of the fastest airports to go through, but welcome to the LHR experience for a change 😉

  3. Friendly reminder to all of them that our planet is burning and that aviation is a big part of the problem when scaled to % of emissions in relation to % of pop traveling by plane.

  4. My guess is that some bünzlis are standing in front of an escalator or other traffic pinch point having a conversation about the weather. They’ll continue to do so for the next 20 minutes not giving a fuck that they’re in the way of literally everyone.

  5. It was so bad on April 4th as well, and then passport control was also bad. It took us a full two hours to get to our gate, and the flight was basically already boarding.

  6. Nothing to do with easter, monday 27.3 was the same. Srf mentioned the police dont have enough employers so they have to keep a lot of lines closed. Safe travels!

  7. Saturday morning was the same. Tuesday afternoon was better but i still needed 40 minutes to go through the security when usually it’s about 10. They need to fire ai responsible for ordering staff and start doing it the old way.

  8. I had a red eye flight and was at the airport at 04h30,luckily hardly queuing.
Now I’m more content about having taken the early flight.

  9. At least you can buy one of the watches from these ads to keep track of the time you waste in the line.

  10. I flew out today (had to because of work), and it had been a complete shit show. The airport has collapsed, amd there was absolutely nothimg to be done about it. The management would not open the automatic passport gates, leading to the Terminal E, until the very last moment, and I just got lucky I did not miss my flight.

  11. American here. Visited the first time last year, flew into Zurich, lines like this. Obviously i was in the longer line for non Schengen zone peeps. Witnessed another American having a complete meltdown that he wasn’t getting first class treatment.

Every time there was an obnoxious asshole there, it was an American. Never felt so embarrassed. Sorry everyone, we suck

  12. I’ve been travelling a lot the last few weeks and it’s been worse than usual. I guess this is the accentuation of the issue during Easter.

From what I heard there is a shortage at the Kantonspolizei for security check staff. Can someone confirm?

  13. I work in the aviation industry, I love flying for myself but I hate travelling by plane. Airports are the worst thing invented to annoy the shit out of pax.

Queueing for everything, standing up for hours for no reasons. Then you have all those stressed pax running to the gate, panting and screaming when the screen says “Boarding open in 30 minutes”.

Some airports do “pre-boarding” and keep the pax standing up in an overheated jetty because fuck them I guess ?

Wifey and I decided to only travel in business class, if we can’t afford it that means we can’t afford to travel. We travel way less yeah, or travel by train because it is Europe and train are cool. Now we’re wishing for more TGV like connections and more night trains outside of OBB.

On the + side, it made us visit Switzerland more. We ended up in Olten (yeah no joke), Basel, St Gallen etc. That was cool.

  14. These impulsive flights are symbolic of our struggle to fight climate change. Yeah, like I know we all fall short sometimes, but flying is still way too mainstream given the [emissions](https://co2.myclimate.org/en/flight_calculators/new) it produces [(just fill in a random flight and scroll down to compare to C02-neutrality)](https://co2.myclimate.org/en/flight_calculators/new).

Although, I might be wrong, and they all have their best friends wedding in the Mediterranean.
