In addition too this some presenters who are finishing this last week were denied the opportunity to tell listeners they were finishing, this malaise seems to of spread across management. The first thing they need to do is ban political appointees completely and follow the recommendations of the culture media and sport select committee and have German style system of appointments.
. This idea of captivating a “modern audience” is rubbish and WON’T happen. Youngsters seldom watch TV or listen to radio these days.
Nor pay the TV licence.
But you are making people that PAY your licence fee very angry. And that will end badly for you.
> ‘A troubled moment” – what is going on at the BBC?
Said the BBC
The slow realisation that their smug self entitlement don’t wash in the era of streaming services and that the license fee is doomed?
Tory stooge at the helm!
Non-partiallity out of the window!
Those sentiments went through my mind on Friday. BCC WS suspended ALL programming to broadcast Gwyneth Paltrow’s court testimony live. BBC News, Hard Talk, Talking Business, BBC News America. I couldn’t fucking believe it. They’re going to do it again on Monday when (as they told us over and over) she and her kids will be testifying
This article manages to miss the real problem and could be considered misleading IMO.
On the news the day after the Boris Johnson grilling, they had the head of the local conservatives association on (who makes no bones about wanting Johnson back in charge) as the only guest to contextualise the story. The presenter mentioned an article in the Mirror, but then quickly added that it was a very left leaning paper (maybe I’m wrong but I’ve never noticed them do that about other papers).
It was sad to watch them bend over backwards to be ‘fair’ to the Tories.
There’s just a fundamental political bias at the BBC. Government has put conservatives at the top of every institution in the UK including the regulators. That’s is just beyond un acceptable and there needs to be a complete overhaul to stop this ever happening again. We need proportional representation so that minorities are perfected in a majority country. The BBC has been engaging in the exact same moral panics as the Daily Mail. It’s beyond disgraceful what they have turned the BBC into. BBC Entertainment fares better because it largely relies upon outsourcing to independent production companies. BBC News programming however is dogshit state propaganda. I stopped paying my TV licence over it. I work in media and I’ve worked on numerous BBC dramas. I cannot believe what they have turned the BBC into.
IMO it’s a much more of an immediate problem that what’s going on with the Met police. This is state news and has huge influence over people. Government will issue an independent review. They will put a conservative sympathising person in charge. They will find no wrong doings or at most a few little issues to be ironed out. This is not good enough. BBC management need to be completely dismantled and replaced with politically neutral people and that includes attitudes to minorities.
No mention of Frankie Boyle being cancelled for being left-wing. Good old BBC.
