That was a fantastic day/time. Remember I was trying to get home from Townsend Street but the road was blocked off and a load of people were there. Waited maybe 5 minutes and Barry O rocks past in the Beast. Saw him clearly waving at us. Bless him like because that junction of pearse Street and townsend Street was/is a complete shithole. He was waving at me, a spar and a hape of junkies in the area for the multitude of methadone clinics nearby.
Yes the noise of metal on metal was nasty.. they have not much luck coming to Dublin with the beast speaking of getting stuck back in 1996 the aircraft carrier USS JFK came to Dublin.. fought in two world wars never got damaged. Come to Dublin and is holed by a floating pontoon used to ferry passengers to and from it classic.
Couple of hours to free the Beast. And another couple to hose down the inside because I’d say more than one person shit themselves.
Technically it happened on American soil.
So presumably it drove in – how come it didn’t get stuck then ?
