We are not supposed to think of them as actual people. They are “evil invaders” “illegals” or whatever.
That makes the persecution easier.
I wonder where is the usual crowd, crowing about “illegal immigrants”…

I can accept people not liking migrants coming here, especially in such numbers, however there is no reason to treat them like scum once they are here. That does not mean they should be given a life of luxury but anyone with half a brain should realise there is a happy middle ground between conditions that breach human rights and living like a king at taxpayers’ expense. We need proper processing facilities or much shorter wait times for applications to be processed, either will help alleviate such conditions.
This is a situation caused by our government refusing to work with the French government to set up a processing centre in France anyway, that and the government making it impossible to legally claim asylum without entering the UK to begin with. I am sure they love blaming the immigrants for coming here but you do not have to dig far into the topic to see that the government is very happy to ignore the problem themselves.
Journalist clearly has not been to the normal living standards (slums) of Europes poorest countries.
Part of being a decent human being is treating people decently.
Those people suggesting this kind of unnecesary cruelty is deserved need to take a good hard look at themselves.
Before brexit illegal immigration was comparatively low, but of course all those that voted for it were all about fishing right?
How come the children are caged like in dogs kennels?
