UK regulators say Xbox’s purchase of Call of Duty is not likely to damage console market

  1. I seem to remember reading that the consoles themselves tend to be loss leaders or the manufacturers. I would guess Microsoft win both ways if they own COD. Even if it’s being played on PlayStation they’re making cash

  2. Let’s hope they can do something about the scumbag cheating, particularly the cheating that is seemingly tolerated from high profile streamers.

  3. I can see why people might be concerned that a company that is constantly paying massive fines due to breaking the law might not be totally trustworthy, but then I remember COD has been trash for years so I really don’t care.

  4. What a badly written headline.

    It’s microsoft buying activison.

There is no ‘xbox’ that is the console and Call of duty is a single game that Activision makes, not what they have actually bought.

  5. Yeah, no. You cant trust Microsoft. Like most big companies, its always boiled frogs eventually. No damage right now but in ten years time they’ll have slowly inched the game to being an xbox exclusive. It’ll likey start with small amounts of exclusive content for xbox owners. Then they’ll let the quality of the ports to the other consoles will drop. Eventually it’ll be entire game modes. Finally they’ll find some excuse on why development on other consoles is no longer viable after slowly making xbox the best console to play COD on. And by that time, most COD players will have already picked up an xbox for the better experience, so the blow of exclusivity is softened.

  6. Sony have allegedly tried poaching TakeTwo (parent company of Rockstar) as a retort to MS trying to purchase Activision. This is going to be a fucking pain for consumers.

  7. Only people who only play cod would care and possibly move to xbox if it was made an exclusive. Personally it wouldn’t bother me at all. These cod fanatics baffle me, there’s so many great games out there.
