MI5 spy reveals secret ‘unauthorised’ IRA talks

  1. So this guy went to meet the IRA leadership just days after they had murdered two children in Warrington when he had been explicitly ordered not to and said to them that a united Ireland is inevitable as if that was official government policy, which it never has been, and this apparently misled the IRA leadership into subsequently engaging with the peace process.

I’m all for lying to terrorists to get them to stop murdering children, but it is unbelievably irresponsible to then tell them that you lied to them, especially at a time like this when apparently these terrorists are becoming active again. It’s an excuse for them to claim the peace process was illegitimate. They should’ve kept this to themselves like an intelligence officer is supposed to.
