I know it’s not brewed in Finland but hope it will accelerate more long drink imports from Finland. This display was at the entrance to Total Wine and More in Temecula, California. Prime retail space!

  1. Is that made with real gin, not that brewed shit what they sell in Finland? Of course they make real one here as well.

  2. You must pay reparations for appropriating Finnish culinary heritage and culture. I am expecting to be compensated in whiskey

  3. Does anyone else think that Hartwall should’ve expanded their production overseas? Feels like a missed opportunity given how sparce the competition is for stuff like long drinks outside of northern Europe, not to mention the size of the company.

  4. Eh, better to make it locally with licence. It’s more efficient and environmentally friendly.

  5. I notice it just says “citrus” on the box but the original stuff is specifically grapefruit. I wonder if it’s different stuff or if they just thought that “citrus” sounds more appealing or something

  6. I’ve tasted it, it’s strangely less sweet with a lighter flavor than the real deal. You’d think Americans would like a more sugary drink but I guess it’s capitalizing on the seltzer popularity in the US and not trying to be something too different.

  7. Total Wine is great. So much better than BevMo. I’ve only had long drink actually in Finland even though I see it so many places here (even Ralphs and Vons sell it)

  8. It’s also in mainstream grocery stores in the Midwest. Due to an allergy of someone I know I had to get it confirmed btw — the blue ones have grapefruit and the pink ones (cranberry) have no grapefruit 🙂

  9. They blew it up in Florida about a year ago with big displays and advertising stands like the ones in the picture. Walmart, everywhere. Then just as fast, it was gone. I should have stocked up.

  10. Most Finnish long drink is disgusting. Like sugar water with some flavoring.

The American variant is actually much better! I hope more American companies start making their long drink and export it to Finland.

Is this brewed fake lonkero or real gin-based? The poster says “with real liquor”. Brewed fake lonkeros are popular here too because of their cheap price. Tho nothing beats Hartwall original in taste.
