Controversial. I would have Fondue at the top.

  1. Fondue savoyarde above moitié moitié is all I need to know about the pertinence of these rankings 🤯

  2. Wow I did not expect my country to be on this list with just Šmažený sýr. As much as I like it, I have to admit your Swiss cheese has no competition.

  3. Let’s goooooo, Raclette at the top where it belongs! A real fondue from Fribourg is also amazing so I’m surprised it’s not higher, especially higher than the French fondues which I find less good.

  4. As a Canadian with Swiss family. Raclette is the best, fondue a close 2nd.

The flaw of this list is… American cheese curds are not good and are not a dish.

We make the best cheese curds and then put them on top of french fries with gravy to make the delicacy known as poutine

  5. I’m so sorry. I tried. I tried again, and again. I’m so, so sorry but I cannot get past the smell of raclette. I get that lots of people like it, but I don’t. I am fairly certain, because of this, I will never get my Swiss passport.

That confession over, thanks for this image. I have a list of things to explore.

    Shouldn’t cheese curds be Canadian?

  6. Fondue is an acquired taste, not naturally delicious. If you’re not used to it, it smells like sweaty feet, awful.

Having said that, I wonder, whether the number of foot fetishists in Switzerland is higher than average?

Still, I like both, nice winter food!

  7. Honestly… those paneer dishes are so good. I keep forgetting that paneer is cheese but damn those dishes are real tasty.

  8. I would say a “moitié-moitié” is better than a “savoyarde” or a “jurassienne” but it’s my taste and it implies picking the best cheeses, so maybe a random savoyarde is better than a random moitié-moitié, but again find a “l’Etivaz” moitié and you’ll forget the savoyarde!

  9. I am born in Swiss living in Belgium and I must say Belgium has NO RIGHT to be in any of the top 50 dishes. So this list is bad in my opinion.

  10. Slavic syrniki are made of farmer’s cheese, not really cheese

Really tasty, like small sweet cottage cheese pancakes with condensed milk/jam/chocolate spread, but it’s not cheese, even tho they contain this word in their name – “syr” — cheese in many slavic languages

  11. The fact that the “Fondue Savoyarde” etc. is a relative new invention or a very recent re-iteration of old recipes which were forgotten for centuries in France, it became very fast, very popular as a rip-off of the traditional Swiss Fondue.

If you look in French cook books from 18th and 19th the “Fondue Savoyarde” n’existe pas. It arrived and was imported with upcoming tourism in Vale d’Isère.

But the marketing of this product is impressive.

  12. I agree Raclette is the best but Tasteatlas is garbage. All the rankings are voted by users. Thats probably why india is so high. I like indian cuisine but ive never even heard of good indian cheese.

  13. I get it that some people like Raclette more than fondue. I don’t, Raclette is not even a dish for me. But it’s fine… just my personal preference.

What I really can’t wrap my head around is how confident/sure some people are for it being the better choice. Please tell me what is it about melting cheese on top of stuff while eating that you like so much? It’s like telling me you enjoy putting/grinding parmesan on top of you spaghetti and loving it.

  14. absolute trash of a chart putting french fondues over swiss one and the audacity of putting american shit like “cheese curd” or “mozarella sticks” on it.. uffffff wouldnt even touch these with sticks

  15. I think I might be the only Swiss who thinks Raclette is massively overrated. I’d never seek it out. If it’s served I’ll have some, I guess.

  16. I think all these stupid lists are just dumb click bait crap and we should stop sharing and debating it everywhere.
