Rollerblading did see a resurgence during covid actually
I started rollerblading again recently in my mid 30s, I skate in a open space in a park near my house, it’s extremely common to see people on skates and blades, both genders but females are more common and plenty of middle aged men like myself.
I’m too old to be hurling myself down hand rails so I do more figure skating type moves and just grove to music.
I’m OK but not great but good enough to impress the mom’s there with thier kids.
There’s a chap in my town who rollerblades everywhere. I’d be impressed and happy for him as he’s insanely good, except he’s an absolute prick, he’ll charge through people walking on the footpath, he’ll zip between buggies, twice I’ve seen him almost knock a small child flying.
When he’s at traffic lights, he likes to spin in a wide circle, dramatic head turns and all, and god help you if you’re looking to cross too, he’ll hit off you and give you a dirty look.
I don’t move out of the way for him anymore, he’s an ignorant twat.
