  1. That money went to almost exactly the people the government wanted it to go to, in the way that they wanted it to. If 5% gets recovered in the next decade it’ll be a small miracle.

  2. In other words, the corrupt establishment has funneled money away to their bumchum business friends for more backhanders. I really hope these turds get their comeuppance.

  3. I have heard that a lot of it went to Romanian gangs who set up fake companies and applied for cash and the banks gave them because the govt was guaranteeing the BBL loans and told the banks to conduct zero due diligence.

  4. With cuts to the department responsible for dealing with this, we would be very lucky to recover even another half a percent of that. People against lockdown complain that it damaged the economy but ignore how many billions were lost by the government, or willingly given to their friends and family.

  5. I provided the exact evidence required to convict a company of furlough and covid loan fraud to the HMRC and for the past year and a half have done exactly nothing.

    Mental.

  6. Remember this government put over a quarter of a billion quid of additional funding into hunting down benefits fraud at pretty much the same time that it started closing down all the bodies and organizations it set up to chase down covid fraud.

  7. They’re looking in the wrong places. Check the Tories bank accounts and their mates/ family. They swindled the coffers. FFS, easy peasy.

  8. My local newsagent was given a sizable grant to each and one of his shops. He has 3 shops. He wasn’t even struggling, he still had regular shoppers, maybe more due to lockdown. The gov just gave it. No foul play anywhere. They just didn’t do any checks to see his finances, I’m assuming he fell under front line supply chain. They still haven’t checked.
