How about the entire country of Albania… with zero railroads.
My beautiful hometown had rail connection before but the government decided to end it because of the fucking bus monopoly. Now the only way to go to big cities is either by car or bus…
And I come before you good people of Viseu tonight with an idea. Probably the greatest… Aw, it’s not for you. It’s more of a Tondela idea.

Used a train for the first time when I was 18, when I moved to lisbon to go to university
But its still quite a nice place to live.
The point being?
One thing I don’t get: Italy has one of the worlds best high speed railways, benefitting from its geography that has all major cities lined up nicely north to south.

Doesn’t this apply rather well to Portugal too?
