New price, €39.84 with “Minimum Unit Pricing”- I guess buying drink up North will be a thing again. (With MUP a 500ml can of 4.2% stout will cost at least €1.66)

Spoiler pal, these €20 trays never cost €20. They were loss leaders used to get people into the shop and to get people to drink these particular drinks. They were essentially advertising.
Actual cost without that loss leading was already close to €30, which appears to be the advertised price on SuperValu now.
A sad day for the parish
The government love to suck the fun out of everything. And we keep voting them back in
Yes but with Minimum pricing the Lidl version of stout will be 38.94, Guinness will be much dearer.
Was up in ASDA at the weekend, she got 6 bottles of Malibu and 4 70cl bottles of Smirnoff for 100 pound. Worked out saved about 80 quid. I picked up a heap of cans I think about 60 cans for 55 pound which in fairness is not much more expensive than some of the offers in Lidl and Aldi this week.
still cheaper than the pub

I wonder what impact this will have on mybooze.eu. Will they have to build in minimum pricing too?
Will this affect stronger drinks like a bottle of whiskey?
Looks like I’ll be drinking 8.6% Bavaria for the foreseeable future
Time to start learning how to make beer.
