Nurses deal is still pretty shit to compare what private health sector got in similar time.
> The deal offered by the government to NHS nurses last month includes bonus payments for this year between £1,655 to £3,789 depending on salary band, and a 5% pay rise in 2023-24 for most nurses.
So settling for a real terms pay cut. Because the last decade hasn’t been bad enough. I’m seriously considering retraining.
Teachers have a bit of a problem because strikes won’t work for them anymore. Parents had two years of teachers refusing to teach and strikes just aren’t as disruptive as they used to be.
Hahahaha, the government are going to get a pretty big shock come April 14th
Pay people what they are worth in other words. Teachers are already leaving en masse and training providers have a record number of vacancies. We are going to lose a lot more as younger teachers burn out within three years these days, the old guard are taking early retirement too. What will the government do when there are hundreds of thousands of vacancies but no one wants to fill them? Importing teachers from abroad won’t work and ex-teachers like me are not going to bail them out either. We will see education get much worse because the government refuses to acknowledge that teachers are important for society but given a raw deal too.
I don’t think teachers realise how differently people view them to nurses, there is nowhere near the goodwill.
Seems like a stupid statement for a teaching union to make. Firstly, the pay deal nurses have been offered is terrible and likely to be rejected. Secondly conflating teachers with nurses is just going to lead to the government pointing out that nursing, and most of the other medical professions on Agenda for Change, are harder, higher pressure, higher skilled jobs. And I say that with the greatest respect to teachers, as a medical professional who comes from a family of teachers and teaching assistants.
I really do wonder if these unions are secretly in the government’s pocket with all the own goals they seem to be making recently.
Fkin kids aren’t smart anyways so why do they need a rise?
Secretly the Tories have been negotiating with the Indian Government during the trade talks on unlimited immigration. The chronic shortage of teachers is going to be filled by Indians this will mean a reduction in wages for good. Why is no one reporting this?
Hold on, in other threads the same people are complaining about taxation and cut backs… but want to give public sector workers all the money in the world. Most of you people are all talk. Real world, wheres the money coming from to raise everyones pay? Less teachers in your kids school? Lower disability payments? I mean these are adult subjects not really being considered properly because of an anti-tory agenda on left wing reddit
The nurses deal is utterly sh1t, and will likely be rejected, despite the RCN’s behaviour towards those recommending rejection.
They are not now, or have ever been ,’fit for purpose’, and are the ultimate ‘self serving ‘ organisation.
