The only reason lodging a claim stops them from being deported is because the claims are not being processed.
Fund the system properly so that claims can be processed quickly and this wouldn’t be an issue.
Build a processing centre in France, as has been suggested for years, and no-one needs to cross the channel.
Spend money on joint UK/French patrols to stop the people smugglers in the first place.
Open legal routes for asylum and nobody genuinely fleeing war or persecution would need to cross the channel.
But no, the government spends millions on hotels, Rwanda (a scheme that was designed from the start to be challenged in court) and wants to put people on barges, just to keep people angry.
They could solve this problem if they wanted. They just want to keep people distracted from their other failures.
It’s not especially clear what “links to” means in this context. The article suggests 7 were under active investigation but the others seem to have come to their attention through overseas convictions or other non-specified intelligence. This could mean they associate with people in those groups in some way or that they have previously been involved in the groups but have turned their back on them (which may in itself be a reason to flee)
It’s not ideal but it doesn’t automatically suggest boats full of hardened terrorists setting sail to come and attack us.
Daily Fail stoking up crap as usual. There is no evidence of these people being terrorists and if they were a threat, they would be held in an HMP rather than a leaky hotel.
The Manchester arena bomber was born in the UK and known to the security services. Maybe we should improve our security services rather than panicking about people crossing the channel in small boats.
I actually think British people like Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman are bigger dangers to our country and more likely to kill us with their sabotage of the NHS, than any risk we have from a few asylum seekers who are “suspected terrorists”.
The damage the Tories have done is not “suspected” it’s real.

It’s unsurprising that this is from the daily Mail and is set to further manipulate public perception. It’s clear we know that there were terrorists making their way across this, otherwise there wouldn’t be article, they’re on the radar.
People wouldn’t think twice about a white fella jumping on the ferry across from Ireland or Northern Ireland who might be a member of the IRA or loyalist paramilitaries.
