I don’t really see this as a press problem… Right wing politicians have turned pretty much everything into a woke story. It makes sense the press reports on it. Cause if they didn’t, it would be even more “OMG MAINSTREAM MEDIA BOYCOTZ!!!!” by those morons.
So i feel like im quite out of the loop on this, haven’t followed it at all.
I tried to search what it is all about and found (next parts are just the things i saw in the first few articles) out that it’s mainly about someone called Dalila Hermans who said some pretty stupid and racist/discrimination things against white people few years ago. Now she is picked up by a politician and launching a politican career, and is surprised that those bad quotes are now getting used against her.
Ofcourse, this summary is probably biased against her, but that was the first info i found about it. I wanna know more details about it, before i can honestly judge things
Het is maar een idee, maar wat als we BDW nu eens geen munitie geven door agiterende retoriek over racisme en gender de wereld in te sturen? De Belg (of Vlaming) is doorgaans van goede wil, alleen vaak wat klunzig of onhandig wanneer het aankomt om geen faux-pas te maken, en dan lijkt het mij oneerlijk om hen erop af te rekenen.
De vraag is waarom dat iemand die zo domme in verdelende uitspraken gemaakt heeft voor zo’n positie gekozen word. Staat voor mij los van het hele woke dat erbij gesluerd word.
Tgoh het laat ons toe om niet te moeten praten over onbenullige dingen zoals het staatsbeslag, de tekorten, panama papers, onhoudbare pensioenen enz…
Straks gaan we nog verwachten van media en politiek dat ze zich met serieuze zaken bezig houden.
The concept of “woke” has only 1 goal: get people afraid. Because people who are afraid, will vote for whoever promises will take away their fear. That’s all this is.
Same with the war on drugs and the persistent refusal to even allow research into proper production and usage safety. Gotta keep people afraid.
Same with that recent article(which is taken from the English “the economist” almost literally translated) about puberty blockers. Arguing that “our children are in danger” because of it, and it’s all being forced on them.
100% made up bullshit. It’s literally the exact same substance given to balding men to hold back their hair loss. Or to women/girls with excessive beard or backhair growth. And it has been for decades, before the media focus now suddenly shifted towards transitioning. We know how this substance works, it’s been approved for use literal decades ago.
Politics is creating a boogeyman, so people who don’t have the time to go talk to the people being talked about, get afraid.
Because if people are afraid, you can control their vote. It’s that simple. It’s the tactic of the powerhungry and the elitists, who want to change the system to benefit the individual, especially those individuals who are already wealthy, instead of the community.
And before that it was muslim women who are apparently oppressed because they wear a headscarf? Basically claiming christian/white women are the standard and this system that didn’t come from Christianity should just… stop being itself? If system A says system B cannot exist and should fix itself by being more like system A, that’s bullshit.
And before that it was gay men. Stories in the newspaper going “do you know who’s in the lockerroom with you” depicting gay men as predators, to always be afraid of at every turn, who knows when you’ll run into a gay man… But only gay men. Not lesbians. The cishet men in charge didn’t care about lesbians. Because they could fantasize about 2 women having sex.
Kind of similar to how today all the outrage is around trans women… and not a peep about trans men. Or how about nonbinary people?
And so on and so forth.
There’s always a group that powerhungry politicians are coming for, and as society we need to recognize they’re trying to manipulate us into being afraid. Because if we don’t resist, and they succeed, that’s very bad for the group being targeted.

Isn’t woke the revival of the hippie mentality. Love, peace and love for all which came over as shocking to the old people in that day leading to better rights. Transformed into the clubbing 90s where respect and love for drag queens and black people was key to success, demonised by the elderly. And now a new generation comes forward and enlarges that.

Toen enkele jaren geleden “woke” voor het eerst in België opdook, was ik zeer kritisch voor bepaalde denkwijzen die ermee gepaard gaan. Ben ik nog steeds, maar ik was toen al bang voor wat vandaag werkelijkheid wordt. Dat alles wat progressief is door de rechterzijde als woke wordt geframed en dat daar dan ook zonder argument niets van zou deugen. Van de kritieken uit het woke-kamp heb ik ook dingen geleerd die wel terecht konden zijn. Net toen ik dacht dat het allemaal wat bekoeld was, begon BDW het te recupereren door een nieuwe vijand te krijgen. Onze maatschappij zit jammer genoeg in een conservatieve golf, in alle geledingen. ‘t Is belachelijk aan het worden, kritisch zijn is belangrijk, maar dit is niet langer een rationele manier om ermee om te gaan.
