An interesting take on climate change from an elected official..
Bordeaux, France – winemakers have rows and rows of oil burning ‘smudge pots’ in place to prevent grapes and vines from being frost damaged… And people blame the methane output of Irish cattle for global warming? @AgrilandIreland @IFAmedia pic.twitter.com/qBYHGhA91I

Of course it couldn’t be both
According to these 2 sources a bottle of wine has 1% the climate impact of 1kg of beef.

Moronic unthoughtful whataboutism.

People talk such shite in relation to emissions. Stuff like “Sure how could a cow cause more climate change than shipping carrots from Spain”. As if they actually know the emissions or environmental impact of either. To them, emissions = smoke coming out of an engine/chimney.
That’s good evidence that democracy is working:
There’s a lot of eejits out there, and they deserve representation.
What have the French ever done for us…
I used to know him when I was younger and he was far from sharp back then, looks like much hasn’t changed.

What a ridiculous argument. Firstly no one is blaming Irish farmers for the entirety of climate change and secondly the methane/carbon emissions of Irish cattle farmer far outweighs that of french vineyard owners.
>**I take the view** that burning smudge pots (so that bottles of supermarket wine taste perfect) is a far worse offender to our agri-environment than ruminants 🐄 that have lived on a farmed-domesticated basis on planet earth for 10k plus years.. long before combustion engines!
Well as long a Cathal has *taken the view* then I guess there is no need to get facts involved. If Cathal had his own staff or access to the research facilities of the Oireachtas he could have had somebody check the facts.
For a well-developed, wealthy nation, Ireland really has a lot of climate change deniers
