Yesterday in the evening, German main power source was coal, followed by biomass and gas. After shutting down nuclear plants only 40% of the German mix was considered low-carbon polluting. Therefore Germany has become second biggest energy-polluter in the EU after Poland.

  1. Can we please stop with the “in this specifc hour Germany was the most polutiting country in the Northern Hemispere” nonsense? These maps are useless and say so very little about the actual situation. Post yearly averages instead of this agenda posting.

  2. You know what you use to get rid of nuclear waste? Barrels of concrete and 30000+ years of careful storage.

We can deal with the carbon footprint of this power mix by reducing it.
We can’t deal with the infinite cost of nuclear.

  3. But everyone was saying that Germany is producing 70% of renewables?

Also, why is the sun energy at 0?

Edit: Nvm, i noticed it’s hourly and in the night the Sun doesn’t shine.

  4. Maybe we should post this everyday, maybe some people who are ok with the nuclear phaseout in Germany in this sub would change their mind.

Even when the wind is strong and the sun is bright they emit more than France by the way, even though of course the emissions are much lower than this
