I’d question “little known group” as the Observer article has it. They had just had a massive hit with Please Please Me.
I read that Brian Epstein was a man of his word. Even after Beatlemania started they were still playing gigs at the previously agreed fees.
I have a vague memory that this particular gig was because one of the schoolchildren had written to Epstein asking if they could play at his school. Might be wrong.
I’m a music student and all I ever fucking hear about is the beatles. Yes they were revolutionary 60 years ago but now the music sounds incredibly dated. Especially the pre revolver albums. I really couldn’t give a fuck about some beatles gig
And so it should be, no one has ever come close to The Beatles especially not that blues covering band.
Overrated band. Harrison was much better off after he got out of the shadow of Lennon and McCartney’s egos. His next bandmates were way more talented.
Edit: for anyone who’s unaware, it’s not remotely in question. His next bandmates were Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
