I’m looking for people from Białystok that can give me a better translation on the writing on the lining of a helmet I have (I am in Ireland). I have gotten most of it translated by some lovely Poles but they weren’t sure about certain parts like what Warta was (they guessed it to be river or sentinel/guard?) and what 1K.SAP was, and I’m wondering if it’s local slang. It would be cool to find the original owner if at all possible!

In this context złota warta might mean „golden guard” I’m guessing this helmet belonged to some guardian, and they called their unit “golden guard”. Warta is the name of the river as the name of football team but also mean guard or watch unit.
Edit
006 ddc means 6 dni do cywila it’s 6 days left to serve, so it might even mean that złota warta is slang name for the last time they are guarding before the will go back home.
Edit 2
I’m pretty sure tha 1k sap is some code name for unit they served. Maybe Siły Artylery Przeciwpancernej (anti tank artylerylery forces?) sorry never served in army so not sure what that can mean but almost for sure something like that, and diabeł and pacuła are almost for sure nicknames.
“Mało” – means “a little”. It was a forbidden word for draftees that didn’t serve at least half of their mandatory service time. Since he used it here he must have already served enough time.
“16 DCC” – short for “16 dni do cywila – literally means – “16 days until civilian”. Pretty obvious – somebody was counting down the days.
WKU Białystok – WKU is Wosjkowa Komenda Uzupełnień – military draft command. It’s a military body that’s responsible for draft, mobilization etc. Białystok is a city in eastern Poland. Most probably he was drafted there.
“Diabeł” – means “devil” – probably the guy’s nickname.
“Złota warta 6 dcc” – “the golden sentry duty – 6 days until civilian”. He wrote it to celebrate his last sentry duty – 6 days before finishing his service time.
“Pakuła” – not sure. Might be another nickname.
That random set of numbers and letters might be some abbreviation for the name of his unit. Not sure
Source – I’m an old prick who had to do mandatory draft 😎
I wouldn’t be surprised if some poor lads were wearing exactly the same type of helmet at this moment during exercises.
