This should not be done to a flag, even if it is an enemy flag. “The flag is the honor of a nation.” -Ataturk
Burning a flag isn’t, in anyway barbaric.
Well, this was expected while both parties use each other nation’s name as an insult and also there is conflict still ongoing.
But if this done by Azerbaijan(which is wrong) to Armenia would receive a lot of reaction as we do now.
Omg, that was done in an international sport event?? And seems Turkish flag also cut off. If it was done to Armenian flag by Azerbaijan, it would probably get ban for several years. I wonder if Armenia would get a ban like that. We will see the hypocrisy one more time.
I consider burning flags to be silly but not barbaric.
Now, you know what actually *is* barbaric? Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Karabakh/Artsakh.
itt: democratic progressive europeans okay with flag burnings as long as that flag represents Turks
When the muslim world burns French flags it’s barbaric.
When Armenia burns Azerbaijani flags it’s not barbaric.
The subtle difference being that azerbaijanis are turks and turks bad.
Oh no, piece of fabric on fire, the horror
Important to note that the man who burned the flag was just an Armenian working for the public television, so it’s an accident that Armenia (as a host) most likely didn’t sponsor which would have made the entire move terrible as a host politicizing such a thing.
Azerbaijan here completely overreacts and milks that incident, I would understand if they demand this guy being banned attending this event or that he’s not charged with anything but that’s pretty much it. The entire thing is blown out of proportions.
A good opportunity (sport) to ease tensions in the Caucasus a bit gone down the drain.
We gave our response by wining the championship and they had to listen our national anthem in Armenia. I’d be mad too, maybe burn some more to ease the pain.
They burned Azerbaijani flag and cut Turkish flag in an **international sports event**. It didn’t happen in some random street corner. I can’t believe redditors are defending this. If Azerbaijan burned an Armenian flag and it was shared here, it would get 50k upvotes.
Slightly less barbaric than torturing prisoners of war, I’d say
We just gave Aliyev free PR
Imagine ukrainians burning a russian flag during an international event in ukraine as a protest. Would that be deemed “barbaric”?
Lol isn’t one of Azerbaijan’s decorated military heroes an axe crazed murderer who killed an Armenian soldier in his sleep during a NATO conference? Who is the barbarian again?

The flag was snatched and burned by someone from media team. He was instantly detained and shortly after, organizers gave [a new flag to the girl holding it](https://www.reddit.com/r/armenia/comments/12mgnl2/after_the_indigent_with_the_flag_burning_a_new/).
who would’ve thought blockading 120K people from humanitarian aid, food and gas for four months would cause resentment🤯
loooool this subreddit never surprises me
Now all the people who were silent when Armenians were mutilated and tortured are really upset.
Muh fleg!
Just want to point out to the sore azerbaijani, who [punched his armenian opponent](https://twitter.com/ZartonkMedia/status/1635375329232519171) in the face after loosing to him.
