    What happened to that man is beyond disgusting and IMO those sentences are reasonably proportionate to the terror they subjected him to.

24. so here’s my theory (or one i picked up along the way, cant recall). Local hoods (or mafia, paramilitaries, republicans or whatever you like to call them) were using the quin businesses to launder cash, extort cash, generate cash and whatnot. When quin lost control the mafia no longer had their golden goose. The new exec’s (including lunney) weren’t so welcoming to the hoods as the old crowd so they launched a campaign of intimidation that culminated in this act of barbarity. And while all this was going on the local gards were busy looking the other way and having a great run of luck at the bookies.
