
Okay, so Im from Hungary but all my ancestors came from Germany in the late 18th century. Most of them supposedly came from Alsace-Lorraine and Hessen but Im not 100% sure about that.
Theres this clip (2 clips) of my great grandpa talking about his profession recorded in 1993.
Ive already asked this before, but the video I had was extremely short and the audio was terrible. Now I have found the complete, original recording in a bit better quality.
What dialect of German is he speaking? How hard is it to understand him?

The important part is from 0-5 minutes, after that he doesnt talk that much.

It’s very easy to understand him.
But I can’t really say he has any particular German dialect. If anything a slight Hungarian accent, but really not much.
I think it’s most likely Banatschwäbisch.
