Europe’s largest nuclear reactor enters service in Finland

  1. It used to be the case that the single largest industrial energy use of Finland was drying paper in the many vast paper mills. First it was gas burners, then infrared heaters. The mills are mostly gone now, but many now are filled with server racks as data centres, which are still energy intensive.

The only bad thing about nuclear is that as the plants are so far from cities, the hot water produced can’t be used for heating homes.

  2. …and it will be shut down by another unexpected fault for maintance before tomorrow noon…

  3. They said it was ahead of schedule too.

I guess 14 years late isn’t a biggie as long as it’s the right day of the week.

  4. Probably the cleanest power source there is. It’s very important to develop and expand nuclear power in face of climate change. Something morons in Germany does not seem to understand.
