its really the main one we should invest in tbh, we dont need lots of tanks or a big land army. Only a navy and an airforce to protect ourselves
Calling for a more lethal navy too it seems. They aren’t happy with the level of punch the boats are packing.
> “When ships do get to sea they act like porcupines – well defended herbivores with limited offensive capabilities”.
hahaha
In the navy you can sail the seven seas and put your mind at ease

“The report calls for the escort fleet to double by acquiring more low-end capability to carry out low-end tasks, and for the Government to increase the size of the attack submarine fleet”
AIP-Subs, Sub-1k FAC’s, Naval drone fleet, Autonomous submersible combat. V-LR ASM’s, A playstation for the ward room.
Its like my dreams have come true.
It worked well in the past to be honest
This is what it should be, because Britannia rule the waves.
>“When ships do get to sea they act like porcupines – well defended herbivores with limited offensive capabilities”. What offensive capabilities these ships do have will be reduced even further in three years’ time when the Government retires the Harpoon anti-ship missile without a planned replacement.
Isn’t that the point? The small ships defend the carrier, the carrier does the offensive capabilities. The only times when small ship engage in ship-to-ship combat is when they’re either engaging pirates (for which even most large Coastal Guard ships are well equipped and there are no pirates near Britain anyway) or the Persian Gulf, where the Iranians are engaging in a hit-and-run tactic, before something from the skies sinks their boats (in which case the porcupines strategy works well).
I’m sure the UK Parliament knows better than me, but I can’t see their angle here.
Sure…. right, that’s gonna help you hold onto N. Ireland and Scotland
Technology has progressed so much since the last major naval conflict that I honestly think we’re due another ww2 battleship moment where we realize current doctrine does not match with reality.

Why not a Republican Navy ? Or a National Navy ?
