  2. > In 2015-2016, Moscow attempted to influence Finland by organizing large numbers of asylum-seekers to northern Finnish crossing points in the Arctic Lapland region. Russian authorities were seen deliberately ushering thousands of asylum-seekers – mostly from Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle East nations – to those border crossing points.

However, the extent to which this was a deliberate and coordinated effort by the Russian government is still a matter of debate and speculation, and there is limited concrete evidence to support these claims.

I am unable to find proof of these claims beyond “someone said this” variety. Without proof it’s just speculation. It could have easily gone like this:

    * Afghani person arrives in Russia
    * “Fucking hell this is freezing”
    * Government doesn’t help refugees in any way
    * Chechen criminals try to kidnap Afghani person to work as a slave in a mine (yes that’s a real thing)
    * Afghani person says “fuck it” and tries to cross the border on a bicycle near Murmansk, applying for asylum

  3. Why were people complaining to about the effectiveness of Trump’s wall, yet this is expected to keep people out.

  4. Not sure if it needs to be stated, it needed to be stated at least in /r/Europe but this wall / frence is not built for war. It’s built for hybrid warfare operation like of which we saw on the Polish/Belarussian border. It’s meant to direct people to certain places for processing instead of just letting everyone in as a mass.
