Shocking moment cyclists mount pavement and nearly ‘mow down’ blind man waiting at ‘floating bus stop’ in London

  1. That’s a cycle path… The issue is the bus stop, or the cycle path but it’s not the cyclists fault for using what they are meant to

  2. They don’t “nearly mow him down”. One bike goes around behind him on the pavement very slowly.

But is that a really stupid bus stop design, having a cycle path between the shelter and the place the bus actually stops? Yes it is.

  3. This is just rage bait. The video clearly shows the cyclist on the cycle path and nothing happens except the exposure of shitting cycling infrastructure.

  4. The cyclists should have stopped and given way to the pedestrians rather than trying to cycle through them, but that is a really shitty designed bus stop.

The island is supposed to be wide enough to hold a bus shelter and groups of pedestrians. The bike lane in the video should have gone around the back of the bus shelter.

Floating/Island type bus stops should look like the ones in section 5.1.5.2 here:

  5. I’ve got these near me and they’re ridiculous. Getting off the bus and all looks fine, then some dickhead appears out of nowhere at full speed when you’re half way out the door. They’ll never slow down of course, they never do.

  6. Who are these nebulous transport chiefs and how much consulting did they do with disabled groups when planning these bits stops? I’m guessing none.
