Then it turns out this ‘security’ company is hacked and money gets stolen.
In the meantime Maltese companies are denied funding, have funding meant for them stolen and get demands for bribes and share in their companies at every turn.
No wonder this country is interested in industries built on vice and illegalities. It’s the only language it understands.
It’s time to hold government officials personally liable for the corruption and waste they facilitate.

This is a pretty common scam. Employees of mine would receive emails from “me” that were perfectly formatted to look as if they came from my email account – those mails would ask them to make payments to all sorts of companies.
The only way to protect against this is to have very solid internal controls in place and at least a two person sign off on any outgoing payment and every payment is handled in the same way regardless of how urgent it is.
I’d bet that 90% of the companies in Malta and elsewhere have had such attempts.
