Your wallet is in the “cocheras” of the metro, so it could still be lost. Please look for “Deposito 13 Metro Madrid” on google maps and there will be a phone number.
Without you already being in the country and being documentation, unless the wallet itself has sentimental value, it is not worth it

One thing that sometimes happens is that the cash is stolen from the wallet and the wallet and then put it in a mailbox or somewhere where it will be found.
It happened to me once and to my SO another time. I filed a police report at the local police station were it went missing (pickpockets). Both times (Vienna in 1988 and Barcelona 2018ish), the police said I’d likely get it back. I didn’t believe that for one second, but both times we got everything back except the cash via mail to the address I put in the report.
Mind boggling.
