Boris Johnson pressed to say if there were parties in his flat during lockdowns | Boris Johnson

  1. “The prime minister’s former adviser, Dominic Cummings, claimed on Friday that photos could come to light proving such gatherings were held. On the day that Cummings dramatically left his job in Downing Street in November last year, blaring music and aides chatting were heard in the No 11 residence where Johnson lives with his wife, Carrie, sources have said.

Separately, the Guardian has been told a “wine and pizza” party attended by Tory advisers was held in Downing Street after a Covid press conference during the first lockdown, in spring 2020. No 10 said the prime minister was in his flat “solely with his family” on the evening in question and the spokesperson denied knowledge of any gathering. ”

    One rule for……

  2. When Allegra Stratton was asked in the mock press briefing if the Primeminister would “condone” having a party, her reply was “what’s the answer”.

She asked that because the answer is not simply “no”.

How can it not be that straight forward?

Because the Primeminister (at best) knew it was happening and did nothing or (at worst) actively encouraged it, was there or organised at least one of them.

  3. I know it’s important to hold this government to account. And we really need to make them pay for all the corruption and greed. But I get the feeling that this Christmas party brouhaha is a massive smoke screen for something else they’re doing which they don’t want to be scrutinised for. I’m guessing the New Policing Act that Shiti Patel is heading up is one of the things we’re not hearing much about. What else is the media ignoring and instead focusing on parties?

  4. The party thing is a running story because it’s a gut check.

Johnson’s trade mark as a hack/politician is to arouse negative emotions around social status.

The exceptionalism credo by which he governs and lives has been identified with personal selfishness now.

The negative emotion he feeds has soured and it’s turned into disillusion with him.

Watch him try on a series of funny hats in an attempt to placate the masses. He still has culture wars clout.

  5. Random staff parties in other areas of the vast Number 10 building and not attended by Boris himself would be bad enough.

A private party in the actual Prime Ministerial flat and Boris was in attendance? That’s probably time to get the removal men in.

  6. So drugs found in Parliament and now this. The public has turned against the Government and the opposition leader is saying that he needs to be sacked. Why hasn’t anything been done? It’s crazy what they’re allowed to get away with, I’m afraid this will be swept under the rug like the fake contracts.

  7. “Did you have parties at your flat, Mr Johnson?”

“Uh ah um bah rah ooh no Peppa Pig !!” *Waves arms around babbling*

    “So that’s a yes?”

  8. It is amazing how stupid the behavior of the Boris government is. Throwing parties any moron could tell them would eventually become public is just beyond stupid and politically self destructive.
