Swiss railways are amazing but who thought this was a good idea?…

  1. People with uneven feet, a common occurrence in the high alps. Same with the cows. That’s why they rest so easily on steep meadows.

I told that to my visiting 9 year old cousin when they visited. She believed me, until we saw them up close. 😂

  2. I actually miss the little step on the window side… it is not present on most newer trains.
I like to have one leg slightly higher to be more comfy, after they removed the step I had to press my leg against the little table (don’t know how to explain what I mean, the foot is not on the table the knee just presses against it).

And now they made most tables smaller or round, and now I can’t even do that…

I want my comfy leg support back!

(An Initiative is on its way to collect signatures to write leg-support into law)

  3. I actually love this, feels more relaxed to have one foot higher than the other! Not saying it’s the best design, or even intentional, but it works for me 🙂

  4. I really wonder if people actually tries out what they did before producing it.
The big green emergency buttons next to the new trains are another example.
People for sure had a meeting about it and the majority agreed it was a good idea and nobody would mistake it for the door button.

  5. In case you were wondering, these “steps” are usually air ducts to move AC/heat throughout the carriage. They do not exist in the newer carriages anymore as the ducts were moved into the cealing.

  6. Shoe-jokes aside, I think it’s just space efficient, (I am on such a train right now) and it looks like it houses the technical stuff for the heating / airconditioning or else. It reminds me of the bumps and bulges in the back of some cars where technical stuff is housed / stowed away.

  7. I love this step and I hate all trains that dont have it. Not being able to put one foot up is really uncomfortable. I also often work on trains and it is way easier to highlight a text like this – prop your foot up and put your text on the leg/knee. It is awesome

  8. Better than the trains where it’s just angled heating. Can’t put your feet on it, and in the winter it melts your legs if you touch it.

  9. I just wanna know the length of those shoe laces and do you use them to rappel down a cliff face when you get to the top?

  10. There is something extremely unattractive about those shoes / feet. Do you happen to walk with your toes facing inward instead of slightly outward as they should be?

  11. C’est parfais, tu allonges tes 2 jambes sur le rebord. Je déteste quand c’est au niveau du sol moins confortable
