The British empire was about as cruel and deadly as the Russian Empire and its successor state, the USSR, and as the Chinese Empire under Mao. The difference is that the British won in the 2nd World War and got to write the history books.
But that’s why India and China and Africa are not as quick to condemn Putin and side with the US and Europe in the matter of Russian imperial aggression in Ukraine, because they remember the shit colonizers did to them and never apologized. The last episode of The Problem With Jon Stewart is exactly about this.
I mean, the British invented concentration camps (not extermination camps, this was a Nazi invention) and they had concentration camps with widespread torture and rape in Kenya in the 1950s (google: Mau Mau rebellion), after the 2nd World War has already ended and the idea of a concentration camp should be widely considered a major human rights no-no.

You guy do realise that we can say that both were bad right? The British killed millions, the Nazis killed millions. One did it in lower numbers over a substantially longer period, beating out the Nazis in sheer number due to having like half a millenium to do it, while the Nazis did an any% speedrun and killed like 20 mil in 6 years.
