Looking for socialists in order to engage into mutual aid together and do some organizing. I am personally an [anarcho-communist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchist_communism) (anti-authoritarian socialist). There are two of us currently and we see a lot that we can gain from cooperation with others to make our life and life of others under capitalism better. We also have a lot of ideas on how to develop dual power and are actively implementing them.

Here is a primer for those who may feel like bringing up USSR. Anti-authoritarian or [libertarian socialism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_socialism) has nothing to do with statist socialism which USSR claimed to have. In reality it was just [state capitalism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_capitalism) with bureaucrats acting as bourgeoisie for the most of its history. Moreover, anarchists were prosecuted in USSR (e.g. [anarchist uprising in Ukraine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makhnovshchina)). I have no love for USSR.

Posting in English because my Estonian is not sufficient to discuss such complicated topics as anarchism/socialism/capitalism.

  5. What is the aim of this mutual aid/organizing? Charity for the poor, labour unions etc? You’re more likely to get meaningful engagement if you clearly outline your purpose in your post.

  7. We are more than happy with our lives and with the path that we have chose, we have no desire to change anything. If you’re not liking the way things are, then that’s your personal problem.

    It’s easier for you to move to another country instead of trying to change something that only you have issues with.

  15. Communism is a utopia and it will not become a reality as long as we are not ruled by robots and have free will.
    From my observation the ideas of communism nowadays are usually favored and pushed by 3 categories of people:

    1. Uneducated, unmotivated and low-skilled people, who are usually working low-skilled – low paying jobs(aka why is my boss getting all the money while I am doing all the hard work). These people are the ones always whining about how bad life is, but too lazy to lift their ass to even try to change something.

    2. Idealists who see the world through pink glasses and think that all people are willing to put their maximum effort for “the greater good”.(Those who believe in “From everyone by their capabilities to everyone by their needs”) These ones can even be highly educated, but they are unfortunately too narrow-minded to see that we are not living in a perfect world, because most of their acquaintances are also motivated and educated. They think that everyone else is similar.

    3. Populists who are exploiting the 1st and the second category.

    I wouldn’t let people from either of these categories anywhere near state governance.

    I will not go into too much detail why communism will not work from my PoV. I’ll just say that my opinion is that communism favors the lazy and dumb. Whereas capitalism favors the hardworking and smart.

    The only current problem with some capitalist countries(and this does not concern Estonia). Is that things like healthcare and higher education is inaccessible for people with low income and that is where a bit of socialism will not hurt.

    In Estonia, I feel we have quite a good balance of capitalism and socialism. We have free healthcare and education(incl. higher education), one of the best parental support schemes(1.5 years of payed leave), there are a lot of government sponsored programs for additional education, good welfare programs in case of job loss. This guarantees more or less equal possibilities for most people. There are still things we can improve, like programs to include disabled people in the workforce.

    Problem is that not all people use the possibilities given to them to improve their life but prefer to whine how bad the country is or dream about communism instead.

  18. Good luck OP, I like your ideas and your post if you truly are earnest in your goals. Unfortunately most Estonians are raging sweaty neoliberal capitalists who genuinely foolishly believe it’s a meritocracy.

    Oh and also they have an immediate stroke when reading the words “socialism” or “communism” as they lack the ability to see nuance and either of those things can only be related to the USSR in their mind.

    Not all of us are like this though!

  19. Good luck doing this in Estonia, people here can only think of the Soviet Union when mentioning socialism/communism. Try using different terminology to share your ideas, then you can get a lot more people to sympathise with you.

  28. We have real world examples of anarcho-communism in the real world, in CHOP and CHAZ during BLM riots in 2020. By honest to god idealistic anarcho-communists like the OP, and with the wealth of capitalist United States behind it.

    It’s hilarious how in a matter of weeks their own socialist and idealistic police force became brutal against hobos who kept stealing everybody’s shit, and the whole thing quickly ended up being ran by a warlord.

  29. I dont know how people dont understand, but you can only have true anarchism without a government. For anarcho-communism, you need some entity to redistribute wealth and look, we already have some form of government, next you need some entity to do something and keep check of the collective land and oh look again, we have a marxist government, and then corruption and power hunger blah blah blah and collapse of the state.

  32. I’m assuming you’re not estonian. Identifying as communist will obviously bring up extremely negative emotions here due to our history. If you want to set up a commune I suggest doing that in a country where 90% of the population don’t have family members or relatives that have been murdered and/or sent to Siberia by communists.

    Keeping that in mind, surely you can see how your rhetoric is 1) extremely insensitive 2) bound to infuriate people. For your safety I seriously suggest moving or changing ideology as identifying as a communist on the street will end up with you getting hurt or worse. Hell, I’d kick a commie’s teeth in without a second thought and I’m considered to be a calm and felgmatic person.
