French police ban protesters from banging pots and pans to drown out Macron

  1. Le idiot Macron is becoming a dictatorial leader and doesn’t know that every authoritarian leader out there is going to point to France and say “well look at the so called democracy they have, it’s all a lie”. Pathetic.
At this point he’s a threat to democracy and to the EU’s image in the world.

  2. I should note that this is a decree issued by a Prefect in a specific region

It’ll probably get sent to court for abuse of power (recours pour excès de pouvoir) but that will take a few months and the judges might agree with the decree

  3. EU should surely come out and condemn this no?? Not the protests or the pension issue but the eroding of democratic rights – that’s surely an acceptable thing for EU to criticise?

  4. I love all the enthusiasm of the French people I love how they always give their government hell That’s just savage it’s awesome.

  5. Wait, so, the ban was on the perimeter where Macron was going to be visiting and checkpoints were set so that no one could carry « weapons, everything susceptible to be used as a weapon and objects that could produce noise ». Is this the new controversy ? France a dictatorship for setting a security perimeter.

  6. Sorry, what??? It’s one thing to kick out protestors being aggressive, but a ban on making noises?

While that might not sound so bad, banning something like that along with other less than ideal protections on free speech is forming a disturbing picture of French guarantees of freedom. Hopefully this gets shot down by the courts.
