War could have been avoided if NATO has accepted Ukraine and given all the support in first’ place. And I am not in favour of war at all but helping Ukraine behind the curtains will also not solve the problem. It’s just keep them busy and destroying their own land..
With how complicated it was to add Fins and (still) Sweden, I kinda doubt things are as rosy as Stoltenberg claims.
If their membership application hasn’t made progress over the past decade, I doubt it’ll happen over the next decade.
Oh hell to the no
in parts?
I hope Russia will join too one day
*sigh*
Can everyone please at least read the *first* paragraph before commenting? There is no question about Ukraine joining NATO during an active conflict. That is all.

>The Nato secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, has said all member countries have agreed that Ukraine will eventually join the transatlantic military alliance **once the war is over**, ahead of a meeting of western defence ministers discussing further military aid for Kyiv.
The Soviets had a poker face during the cold war, Russia did until last year.
They could have ended the cold war earlier BUT NOOOOOOOOO!
I do prefer them joining, but doesn’t talking about it now only make Russia try harder to win in Ukraine? Or is my logic flawed?
Stoltenberg is from my country (Norway) and he was a very good prime minister. We’re so proud of his steady leadership in NATO. Many people might not know about this exceptionality that even though we’re only around 5,5 million people (and previously even fewer), not even 0.1% of the world population, clever people from Norway have had important positions like:
– Secretary-general of NATO from 2014 (Jens Stoltenberg)
– Secretary-general of The Council of Europe from 2009 to 2019 (Thorbjørn Jagland)
– Secretary-general of WHO from 1998 to 2003 (Gro Harlem Brundtland)
– The first UN secretary-general (Trygve Lie) from 1946 to 1952
President Obama said that we are “punching above our weight”. So (not to brag, but) that is something to be a bit proud of, I think.
NATO would be stronger with Ukraine.
eventually means before WW3 starts
*Hungary and Turkey peaks out behind the curtain.*

Eventually can mean year 2500
Yeah but Nato is waiting until that country got ruined? Why they can’t add them right now ?

With an ongoing invasion?
