UK (GB), Omnisis poll: EU Membership Referendum

  1. I don’t think any British Government will hold a referendum to rejoin. It would just hurt them electorally too much IMO. UK will be outside of the EU for the foreseeable future unfortunately even though it’s clear they regret their decision. All the lies Brexit supporters told them have been found out.

  2. With these sorts of polls I always wonder what sort of rejoin agreement the respondents are imaging when they say they support it. Do they imagine it going back to exactly how it was before? Because I imagine it’s unlikely that the UK would get any of the special treatment that they got the last time they joined the EU, such as keeping the GBP.

I’m totally in favour of the expansion of the EU and I think it would be great for the UK to rejoin eventually, but I think polls like this can be a bit misleading because at this stage no one actually knows exactly what a rejoin agreement would entail. It’s essentially the same problem as the original Brexit referendum in reverse, where people voted to leave without actually knowing what that meant.

  3. Problem is that the influential forces behind Brexit (media barons and brexiteers narcissists incl Boris Johnson) will go to war against anyone that entertains the idea of rejoining, as otherwise they’d be admitting that they were wrong or even worse – outright lying.

Not to mention that they’re not the ones struggling, they love the lack of EU oversight and opportunities to facilitate the sell out to the US.

  4. I’m so annoyed that the Brexit referendum happened in the immediate aftermath of the Syrian refugee crisis, when negative headlines were rampant and EU approvals were pretty low, not just in the UK, but in other countries too.

Imagine if it had happened at pretty much any other time! Leave won by a thin margin, with polls flip-flopping every other day as to which side would win. That we’ve had to go through all of this nonsense over what was essentially a coin-toss.

  5. I may be downvoted but this is proof of why sometimes important decisions should not be taken if there is a low turnout. I feel like it is one of the flaws of democracy, either 90% of population decides or status quo continues, Brexit was a mistake from begging yet most people did not even cared to go to polls.

  6. Lol thanks but no. The UK is drifting towards a failed democracy, failed stated and eventually failed economy. Why would we do that to ourselves.

If they want to rejoin, they should bring the state if their country to a certain standard that makes them a worthy addition to the EU.

  7. I’m British, and believe me, there is no way 39% want to stay out. The people that will have taken part in this poll will have been the mad people that voted in the first place purely out of ignorance. A lot of leave voters genuinely felt misled, and the large majority desperately wished we’d never left.

  8. If I judged by reading this sub, I’d take it that EU membership was the number one concern facing the British public.

In reality, it doesn’t even feel like it’d make the top 5 issues currently.

Can’t see anything changing for the next decade or so, regardless of what polling shows.
