A useful trick if a direct translation doesn’t work is to look the thing up on the Norwegian Wikipedia and then switch to English. In this case you would have to look at “Selje” (the tree) and then go to the English version to learn that the tree is known as either goat willow, pussy willow or great sallow and the fuzzy flowers themselves are known as catkins.
