Does anyone have experience travelling with a hamster by plane to Germany or another EU country from a non-EU country?

Guaranteeing the health of the hamster is of course a big concern but one can already find a lot of information on that online. My question therefore targets more the necessary documents to pass customs of a EU/Schengen country.

My research so far:
– find an Airline that allows flying with a hamster in the cabin. You will have to book the animal transport as an extra option to your flight. However, many airlines don’t allow transporting hamster or rodents in general. In picked Finnair which seems to be quite animal friendly. This means I will enter the EU in Helsinki first
– Check for documents to export a hamster for private use from the origin country. In my case that’s Singapore which has [clear information on that topic
](https://www.customs.gov.sg/businesses/exporting-goods/export-procedures/exporting-pets).
– Check for documents to import a hamster to the EU. In my case Germany via Finnland. This is the confusing part. I could find a lot of information importing cats, dogs and ferrets but for other animals it seems that one has to call the customs authority first to confirm. As their hotline operating hours is quite limited and it’s expensive to call internationally, can anyone share their experiences calling or passing through EU customs with a hamster or other animal (except cat, dog and ferret)?
