How Prince Naseem Hamed Shaped British Identity

  1. he spent time in jail for serious driving offences, and didn’t seem to think the re-test requirement applied to him, ‘cos he got done for driving again without a re-test

  2. Brendan Ingle was one hell of a trainer, used to love watching his boxers. Not just Naz but also Herol Graham and Johnny Nelson. They always reminded me of Kirkland Laing or Newcastle under Keegan. Utter shit defence, literally non existent paired with amazing attack. Just so watchable, they’re either going to dominate or get knocked out.

Naz may have been a bit of a dick more recently but his Robinson fight was a masterclass.

  3. I havent heard that name in forever. HBO used to really market him like crazy in the US. I remember watching him fight and wondering why. He was a terrible boxer and an even worse dancer, but he did have the ability to knock people out with one punch I guess.

  4. I have worked with and within an area with A LOT of British Asians for decades and most of them thought he was a wanker when we spoke about him.
