  1. Glad to see the money is kept in the country, money well spent to keep the country in the spot light – not gonna rage me about it

  2. Given the positive publicity, and more importantly the extra salty tears from the Brits, I think that’s a steal.

  3. “… which went off flawlessly and simply recirculates that money in the State economy.”

  4. Well spent. I got the impression that there was more concern this time around. He was here longer and visited more places and weather changed things but it seemed stronger.

  5. And how many €m’s will it bring in from tourism? Money well spent. Anything that brings attention and income to a tourist industry that was decimated with the pandemic is surely always going to be a good thing.

  6. Was talking to a cop neighbour today who was telling tales of a ridiculous overtime bonanza – apparently the Americans are paying because it wasn’t a state visit expense was spared.

  7. Serious lack of scrutiny there by the independent.

    > Various garda specialist units were involved, from Crime and Security to the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI).

    > In addition, all garda units were on standby and officers bussed around Ireland depending on Mr Biden’s movements.

    > Gardaí were put up in hotels and provided with meals when necessary. Overtime was also necessary as part of the policing plan.

This money seems to have resulted in another massive transfer of wealth to hotel owners.

  8. Worth it. What a moment. Mayo For Sam! Lol I’m a Tour Director, believe me, that money is an investment in the economy.

  9. How many tens of millions are American tourists pumping into Ireland every year? 50m seems a decent investment as a big advertisement to ‘rediscover your routes’ and keep that sweet sweet tourist dollar flowing.
