  1. Y’know, in terms of working this out, I was reading this thinking, ah this is dead handy, just pop it into the calculator and I’d have it done in a jiffy.
    …Then I remembered that your dad probably came from the generation that had to do all this stuff in their head.
    All of a sudden I became aware of the gulf between my dreams and reality.

  2. It’s mad how things were before the decimal system: Stones, pounds and hundredweights. Pounds, shillings and pence. 24 hours in a day. Crazy stuff.

  3. I always thought a hundred weight meant 100lbs. I had heard old people refer to big bags of coal as a half hundred.

  4. I like that they got lazy with the hypothetical scenarios at the end and it’s just: Here fuckin divide this will ya!
