This centralisation of power, the autocratic tendencies of the top leadership and this culture of fear and secrecy have persisted in the SNP for nearly 20 years, under both Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon.
And for the most part the party’s members and supporters appear to have overlooked or even defended these continued developments in the name of political expediency, reasoning that it was acceptable or perhaps necessary to blindly trust the SNP’s leaders for advancing the cause of Scottish independence. To entirely entrust their party and country’s fate in the hands of a chosen few.
One would hope this culture would end with the premiership of Hamza Yousaf, but I am not very hopeful.
Several things wrong with this headline.
Chris McEleny was never a senior member of the SNP. He was a councillor, who lost his seat and has now defected to Alba because the SNP weren’t transphobic enough for him.
He brought a motion about a formal investigation into leaks from prior meetings. Sturgeon said this may involve people who were present at the meetings in question having their phones checked. He withdrew his motion.
She didn’t threaten to take his phone off him because he was questioning party finances.
When you can’t control the narrative like Sturgeon was able to do then even gutter press like the tabloid Record start to go off-message and ask questions. Sturgeon was always able to beat any negativity with the Tories always available to allow her to deflect to. She is a megalomaniac who had a party organisation under her control. Her cybernats on here used to do her dirty work to suppress any distention from anybody. It was all smoke and mirrors as we see she is a zealot who is corrupt to the core.

Forgive me, but I have my doubts about the accuracy of this source. Anyone who’s aware of McEleny and his history in Scottish politics would be incredibly sceptical of what he has to say even if he told you the sky was blue.
Whilst it’s clear that’s been some fucking dodgy shit going on in the SNP, McEleny is about as trustworthy a source as Boris Johnson.
Why would Westminster do this?
And
I can’t recall reclaiming phones
– Nicola.
She was complicit. That is not normal behaviour. That’s desperation.
If they didn’t stop after that she was going to have their PlayStations as well.
She is/was an absolute piece of work. If she goes to prison in the end I’ll die laughing
Utter tripe, more state sponsored propaganda using MSM 🏴
A former treasurer quit over being denied access to the party’s financial records, which made him unable to do his job properly. I think it is fair to say that even if this headline is misleading in any way, Sturgeon going beyond what is reasonable to deny people access to party finances over the last few years is not an unreasonable assertion. She was doing all she could to hide what she and her husband were doing and has caused an earthquake in Scottish politics as a result. She has also managed to undo all the progress she made for both the SNP and Scottish Independence. She became what she hated and has ruined any legacy she could have had with that.
My father had a Scottish workmate (living here in the Midlands) and always claimed Sturgeon was dodgy as hell and that all the Independence talk was only to cover up the real issues. Couldn’t stand her.

He was pro-independence too.
