Lately, there’s been a lot of buzz in Chinese private media, YouTube channels, and Twitter about Lithuania’s alleged bankruptcy. They’re claiming that Lithuania’s staggering $47 billion external debt is on the brink of default, and that they’re seeking help from China. I’ve been seeing these reports all over the place, but I’m really wondering if they’re true. So, I wanted to ask Redditors from Lithuania, how’s your economy doing? Have you guys been facing any economic crises?

People in China don’t need VR glasses to achieve virtual reality, they can just read news every day. #TheGreatTranslationMovement https://t.co/lDeJRqesLg” / Twitter](https://twitter.com/TGTM_Official/status/1650090697327001600)

  1. Economy roaring, economy booming, soon we will have tripled our Cepelinai production in just a few short years. Baltic tiger is on the rise while red paper dragon shivers! But in all seriousness the economy is doing good, some ups and downs as anywhere else, land and housing market going trough the roof (as it does forever*) and we are increasing our cooperation with Taiwan and it’s people. Soon we will have cool new factories to make all the cool new toys with the cool boys and China will remain outside crying and moaning.

*- 2008-2009 crash did slow it down and maybe even decreased the prices a bit but the trend is UP

  2. We are highly unlikely to go bankrupt, because we are in all kind of various organisations which infer regulations regarding debt. We are not going bankrupt and it’s most likely a total lie.

Question is, why such blatant lie? Is CCP covering up their own financial issues? Are they are trying to encourage other countries to do something that is beneficial to CCP? Is it to proclaim that CCP policies are effective against country that is not willing to bow to CCP? Who knows. We don’t give a f**k.

  3. China talking ill on people/goverments that they dont agree with their actions and stance on taiwan?

You sure it was chinese ? Maybe it was Japan, because China as North Korea are very friendly countries that only say good things about others.

  4. Congrads, now you can filter who is payed directly by the goverment from your “private media” lol

  5. The only thing that is going bankrupt is my wallet if they don’t make fucking chicken fucking breasts fucking cheaper.

But in general, Lithuanian economy doing alright, just plenty of people are annoyed with inflation, because in the neighborhood we have Poland that have same type products much cheaper. Also slowly becoming international country, you can spot many foreigners in other bigger cities also, not only Vilnius.

And Lithuania would never ask China for money, EU/USA/PRO WESTERN COUNTRIES come first, if something terrible would happen we are not a big country so our economy could easily be propped up by allies.

To Lithuania, China is Asian Russia and they made plenty of times their stand on the matter regarding CCP Authoritarian rule.

  6. China’s debt to gdp ratio ~50%, Lithuania’s ~39%. So from debt point of view, Lithuania is in much better position than China itself. Lithuania has one of the lowest debt to gdp ratios in Euro zone. Lithuania’s debt will likely increase in 2023, but I honestly don’t see where those bankrupcy allegations could come from.

  7. Well, considering there is a war in the neighbourhood (which impacts economic stability a bit… ) I’d say we’re doing ok…..

  8. 15 yuan army as usual.
Here, lemme say it: Xi is a pedo, Mao was a dirty scumbag butcher, CPP is a machine of hatred and ran by the army of old dementia ridden bags of sand, and China is a prison.

  9. dunno about bankruptcy but i will say the economy is being screwed like usual construction/reconstruction funds are embezzled and like most Europe got screwed by COVID and Russia sanction prices going up (although Japan did buy Russia oil and sneaked it to Europe compensating Europeans) and top it even further Taiwan embassy was built denying One China policy this what you get for being a vassal for US bunch sheeps are on stockholm syndrome and act like USSR still exists (it’s all USSR fault because our current situation blah blah blah) it’s been 31 years

  10. “Kicked out of belt and tlroad initiative”

HAHAHA, so now leaving an initiative, that is harmful in a long run is called “getting kicked out”? Okkk

  11. There was no general economic crisis for a decade or so. Some industries were hit by Covid restrictions, and some by energy price spike, but now everything is getting back to sane levels. Ordinary people are facing 20% inflation, but then again salaries have been rising for multiple years, so it is annoying, but not devastating. In short: no, nothing remotely close to what China is pushing in those fake articles.

What I find amazing in such fake articles is their potentiality to backfire. They paint so much gloom and doom, that there will be instant dissonance in target audience, when Lithuania does/says something against China once again: “wait, what? I thought they are on their knees begging for help, so why are they telling us to go after ship of our eternal friends?”

  12. Where are you based, to have this sort of outlook and concerns?

No worries, anyway, as according to the Chinese ambassador to France, Lithuania barely exists.

  13. Its like they claimed that Klaipeda port is going bankrupt, due to halted chinese imports, but they did not even care enough to show videos and photos of the correct port lol
