It’s sad that this individual appears to be willing to make some change (I have no faith in Sadiq Khan), but the post itself focuses more on The Casey Review than anything else. It also mis-reports the review itself, which is quite poor journalism in my opinion.
That being said, more power to him. He appears to be entering the fray for the right reasons and I can only assume he’s more likely to do better than the current mayor.
I remember when Sadiq Khan stopped stop and search so no one would call him racist, and knife crime sky rocketed and loads of black kids got stabbed. He cares more about how people perceive him than actually protecting people, a weak and spineless leader by all accounts.
I doubt Khan can do much when racism is endemic in the UK. You only have to look at some of the more popular media outlets to see that racism is propagated freely and many do not question it at all; even the government is happy to sow the seeds to keep attention away from them. While Khan can act to try and improve things, expecting him to solve the issue alone is nonsense. That has to come from all levels and will take generations to stamp out, through both older views dying out and more progressive views coming in.
