Honestly, I think it does its job at looking like a fantasy map, but it’s not a great map. There are no details whatsoever, so it doesn’t make one dream like a fantasy map is supposed to ; and it’s not very geographically accurate either (mountains are a bit random for instance). Overall it feels like it’s a map quickly made with lot of automatic features from a map makers, for the colours, moutains, lines on the coasts etc for karma points on reddit, but that’s it. It’s not evocative enough to generate stories, and it’s not detailed enough so I’d want a print. It’s perfect for a quick glance on a social media so we think it’s cool and hit “upvote”.
The great Austrian lowlands.
Wales is way more hilly/mountainy than that.
Switzerland’s mountains would be full of dwarves
“Kjolen Mountains”? Skirt Mountains?
It reminds of a post on fantasy sub where a map of Europe was criticized for being “obvious shit design”, like, wow that peninsula is obviously the land of elves, and that part looks like where the hero is gonna be from .. so cliché ..
Bucharest is a bit high up, but I like it non the less. Good job whoever made it!
It completely changes perspective without countries on it.
