    A lot of the reaction to the dog dying was purely performative for an online audience. Everybody knows it and not a lot of people engaging in it want to admit that.

36. George Hook set the mould for Newstalk presenters. George always had a strong opinion about every topic. It does not matter if you believe it or know anything about the subject. You simply just take the extreme of one side of the argument unless it’s a topic that might get you cancelled then you turn to the texts and read out some loon’s rant about immigrants, or Trans issues.

    They get their window licking audience all hot and bothered and then they pedal the text number. It’s a balancing act of trying to surf a wave of controversy to attract an audience without becoming the controversy.
