Hi! I’m not sure if this post is allowed here.
Just received an email (see image). Now, I know some self-employed people have the lowest possible YEL income so that they pay the minimum amount. Can I just tell my YEL insurer “yes my YEL income is correct” when they check me? Or am I somehow obliged to change it due to this new law?
Thanks in advance!

they will check if it’s too low, and if it is they will make it higher, it’s automatic, nothing required from you… If I recall correctly they can only change your salary estimate by maximum of 8000 per year… but I might be wrong. This is to make sure that people actually contribute to their own pensions.
You’re now really, as we say in Finnish, jännän äärellä. Nobody can’t be sure what will actually happen.
What has been seen to happen is that many self-employed persons are relaxing their work pace. I have observed that on my car mechanics and my barber shop. Considerable less amount of time slots available. Wouldn’t also be surprised at all to hear that the grey economy has increased due to this.
No need to worry. Government will punish us regardless of your income with these bullshit for sure…
Even in minimum I am paying already 300€ on 1850 € income and they want more. FUCK YOU. Especially considering I cannot get anything back at all…
Considering that more and more companies try to turn jobs into “kevytyrittäjä” crap to outsource all the risk and still earn, I’m shocked yel is even increasing now. Everyone tries to squeeze as much out of the work force as possible. It’s disgusting. :/
