Council loses attempt to block asylum centre on Essex airfield

  1. Good

If Central Gov states ‘this site is necessary for crucial central Government infrastructure’ who are council busy-bodies to stop that?

  2. Can’t blame them for trying, anyone remember what happened when a Cambridgeshire barracks was used to train several thousand Libyan cadets? Last I heard, they were all sent home after some of them caused havoc in the nearby village not to mention that two of their number raped a man in Cambridge.

Hopefully this wouldn’t be the case for this little Essex village, but if they are going to be housing mostly men who will probably be unemployed, isn’t this a very real risk?

  3. Essex voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU. They were warned we’d end up with more asylum seekers as we wouldn’t benefit from the eu’s attempts to distribute evenly and stem the flow. So why shouldn’t they take on some of what they voted for? Makes perfect sense to me!

  4. So a Tory Council, in a Tory Constituency doesn’t like the Tory policy.

They voted for Austerity which is cuts to services meaning a claim now takes 500 days instead of 45, removal and returns have plummeted since under their watch. They really have no grounds to complain. Sometimes you get what you vote for.
