  1. Oh, I hope one of them made a quip to the protesters glued to the road.

    Face-full of tarmac, eh?
Look at this. Face-full of BigMac.

  2. > But top brass at Britain’s biggest force said “no to the half price food”, with Findlay telling Harper it was a non-starter, and warned the tea and coffee offer was “not to be flaunted”. The free hot drinks were declared by the Met in its gifts and hospitality submission.

Cheap burgers were declined, and the free drinks were properly declared.

    Seems to be alright.

  3. McDonald’s have given the emergency service discounts on food since forever. It’s hardly news.

  4. Trying to put personal bias aside here..

Plenty of people offer tea/coffee/use of toilets to emergency services staff, including the police.

McDonald’s doing it isn’t really new, and the police force did turn down the half price food offer.

Tea and coffee and somewhere to piss seems fine to me.

  5. Ah what’s on the agenda for the Guardians anti-police bias today. Criticising emergency workers’ ability to *use the bathroom*. Jesus Christ.

  6. I’m particularly happy with the responses to this article on this sub.

    Thank you r/unitedkingdom 👍

  7. Business notorious for suffering from ASB gets frequent visits by marked Police vehicles and uniformed officers at the cost of pennies.

Police officers get free warm drinks and toilet facilities.

Sounds like a win / win for everyone involved.

  8. Would this happen to be the same McDonalds franchise that got a late license in Leicester Square without the objections from the Met that have contributed to Greggs being refused similar hours….?

  9. >A spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion said: “Polluting multinational corporations being in league with the authorities is nothing new. In fact, it is the reason why the government is not acting urgently on climate change and signing off new fossil fuel projects instead.

    Jesus Christ.

  10. I’ve paid for a fair few coppers’ breakfasts at McDonald’s, if they’re in the drive through in front of me. I’ve also never been arrested. Does that make me or them corrupt?

  11. In the McD’s near where I lived as a teenager, a friend told me they never charged the coppers on drinks, especially in the evenings.

Having a consistent police presence led to fewer robberies and assaults on staff/customers.
